My fat girl (Taken with instagram)
Zakk Smith is a 3-year-old boy and a Moreno Valley toddler who remains in critical condition with head injuries suffered in a crash Saturday [February 4, 2012].
The boy was riding in a grey Toyota Camry heading north on Nason Street at Alessandro Boulevard when the car was broadsided by a white Honda Civic, neither of the drivers were injured. The 3-year-old boy in the Camry suffered major head trauma and was taken by ambulance to Riverside County Regional Medical Center [PE.com]
Zakkary is now at Kaiser Hospital in Los Angeles where he can only lay still on his back due to a spinal cord injury. He continues to fade in and out of consciousness. A spinal fusion surgery lasted over 7 1/2 hours on February 10, 2012. His mother Arlaeeh, is quick to greet him with a soft and loving voice while caressing his face and wiping his tears, because a 3-year-old doesn’t understand why he can’t move, wipe his nose or breathe without a tube down his throat.
His mother and extended family, friends and Arlaeeh’s coworkers always surround him. Wishes of love and positivity for Zakk have spread globally along with thoughts and prayers for a brighter tomorrow. Unfortunately, the prognosis for his future is not bright. Zakk’s prognosis is still one of paralysis, which includes never living a life of normal children of running, riding a bike or playing catch with friends at a local park.
Zakk now paralyzed from the neck down and relying on a respirator to breathe, will need 24/7 care from his mother [a single mom] and pharmacy technician for CVS pharmacy. Arlaeeh has taken a leave for absence to care for her Zakk.
With Zakk’s health and their, financial future an unknown, we are asking for donations in order to provide for Arlaeeh and Zakk while she is out of work caring for her disabled son. In talking with Arlaeeh, she expressed great optimism and demonstrates amazing amount of strength and confidence in Zakk’s recovery. Arlaeeh expressed to us that, “If he could just see, hear, and talk, everything will be okay”, and with your donation this can be a possible.
Any amount is greatly appreciated and 100% of all donations [minus website fees] will be given to Arlaeeh and Zakk directly. Please find it in your heart to give to the Smith family in the hopes that Zakk recovers someday and the ‘day when tragedy hit home’ will only be a memory. This is my brother’s co-worker’s son. He came home telling me the story of her son. He’s only 3 and he has barely got the chance at life. Reblog and spread the word, and find it in your heart to donate. Let’s help give him another chance at life.
